3-Day Concours Livens Up Scottsdale Auction Week

At last, there is something more to Scottsdale's auction week than auctions. Three whole days of concours delights are coming your way on January 18-20, thanks to the 2007-2008 National Tour organised by Pro Sports & Entertainment, Inc. The Phoenix-Scottsdale Tour takes place at the Phoenician Hotel And Resort, and kicks off on January 18 with a Concours d'Italiano featuring 200 Italian classics along with food, music, and fashion Italian style. Ferrari is the featured car. On the 19th it's the American Classics Auto Show, a tribute to 1950 American classic automobiles with names like Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, Dodge, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chrysler, Lincoln, Kaiser, Frazer, and Tucker to be highlighted. Hot dogs, cold beer and contemporary fashions add to the fun. The third day, January 20th, brings out the finest in rare classics for the Phoenix-Scottsdale Concours d'Elegance, with a special salute to the Daimler marque. 20 classes will be judged for "Best of Show." If this is an annual event, and I sincerely hope it is, the week will offer a taste of Pebble Beach, mixing concours with auctions and other events. For example, the Arizona Winter Studebaker Celebration occurs at the Arizona Golf Resort and Conference Center in nearby Mesa on January 19, so already we're seeing more action. Wonderful news for classic car fans, and rest assured I'll be there to report and upload dozens of photos for your enjoyment.
