The Flueguar

Ah, c'mon guys! So Autoblog finally discovers the Flueguar, which this site featured almost a year ago! With due respect to my friends I must confess that it was easier for me to photograph this car inasmuch it resides in Vancouver, BC, not far from my Vancouver Island home of Sidney. It was a surprise entrant at the 2006 Steamworks Concours and certainly caught my attention, as it did most of the visitor's. The car began as a 1965 Mk X Jaguar sedan that owner John Fluevog's late father purchased when it was one year old. Eventually it was left to rot away until John, a very talented shoe designer, decided to restore the car and at the same time modify it in the grand old American way. Lowered and customised, its British roots are nevertheless evident on the inside where Fluevog added crocodile-stamped leather accents to match the lovely wood trim. The car rides on air suspension and is powered by a GM LT1 V-8. While hot-rodding a Jaguar sounds like blasphemy John Fluevog has treated it with respect. You can see many more photos of the Flueguar's exterior and interior on John's site.
