This promises to be the coolest concours of the year, if only because it is held in an air-conditioned stadium. But wait, there's more! Houston's Classy Chassis, a one-day affair in the Reliant Stadium, promises 100 magnificent classics from all eras will be on show. Among those rare automobiles will be a 1930 Rolls-Royce from the Nethercutt Collection, winner of Best in Show at a Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance; Actor Steve McQueen's Jaguar XKSS from the Petersen Automotive Museum, one of just 16 built; the Chapparal 2 designed by Jim Hall, winner of 22 of 29 races entered; several multi-million dollar Ferrari racers from the 50's and 60's rarely seen in a public forum. 100% of the net proceeds from this fourth annual Classy Chassis will benefit the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Houston. Show day is June 10th and for the residents of America's 4th-largest city, should be a lucky day, indeed.
In Houston, A/C is not a luxury. I remember in the summer of 57 when many cars didn’t have A/C, there was an airconditioned Drive-In in Houston. Your tray was on one window and a flex A/C duct waas stuck in the other window.
