A Voluminous Photo Gallery From a Vast Movie Cars Auction

Chevy at the Fawcett

When my friend Gary Grant, producer of thegarageblog, informed me that he had created a huge gallery of photographs from the recent Fawcett Movie Cars auction in Oshawa, he wasn't kidding. So many, in fact, that when you click on the photo album link, which I highly recommend, best go for the slide show and simply sit back with a coffee or glass of wine and enjoy. Along with wide shots of the vehicles Gary also focused his Panasonic on close-ups of design details, including hood ornaments (mascots, in classic car parlance), grilles, and headlights as in the above Chevy photo. The number of vehicles Ron Fawcett amassed to serve the film industry is truly remarkable. If you were art directing a street scene set in 1960's Bucharest he could probably have supplied all the cars plus a few spares, though turning modern Toronto into communist Romania might have been a difficult task. Gary was pleased to share this gallery with Classical Drives and promises to do the same with the upcoming RM Toronto auction.
