Seems like everywhere I turn on the Net these days there's a Mustang in the news, whether it's the real thing from the 60's or an all-new version from Ford. With due respect to Carroll Shelby and Mustang lovers, I'm getting a little bored with it. Nevertheless, because I'm such a nice guy (!) I'm passing on this bit of news via Autoblog, which got it from Jalopnik, which picked it up from Shelby. According to the story, Mr. Shelby is so caught up in the present he doesn't concern himself with the past and therefore plans on putting his 1969 Shelby GT500 convertible up for sale in January at the Barrett-Jackson auction. Considering the large number of vintage races and concours where 'Ol Shel shows up to sign autographs I'm inclined to disagree with that statement but hey… it makes a nice lead into the paragraph and we writers take any twist we think we can get away with. Yes, it's just another GT500 but add a celebrity name and the price will climb higher than B-J's humungous tent at Westworld. So be prepared to trade away your wife and house, friend. Okay, you may want to keep the house.
