Art Deco and Alfa Romeo Meet in Tulsa
Filed in archive Alfa Romeo by Philip Powell on May 17, 2006
You may wonder why an Art Deco building heads a story on Alfa Romeo
but there's a good reason for this... honest! The Alfa Romeo Owners Association (AROC) is holding its national convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 15-18 and that city, normally known as the Oil Capital of the World, is equally renowed for its collection of Art Deco buildings. Hence, AROC has dubbed its big meet as Casa Deco. The schedule of events, which includes rallies, tech sessions, dinners and a track event at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, allows members to enjoy the scenery of Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma and concludes with a concours d'elegance on June 18. Appropriately, the concours will be held at the Mohawk Water Plant four miles north of Tulsa, itself an Art Deco classic. You can learn more about Tulsa's Art Deco buildings on the Tulsa Preservation Commission site, and if you'd like to attend Casa Deco, full information is available at alfadeco2006.org.Permalink: Art Deco and Alfa Romeo Meet in Tulsa
