Automotive Art
by Philip Powell on May 31, 2006
Once again lucky Angelinos are exposed to some fabulous auto art at the Petersen Museum. On Friday, June 2, from 7 - 10 PM, renowned advertising artist Art Fitzpatrick will be on hand for an entertaining and informative talk in conjunction with the opening of a new exhibit entitled Art Wall: Art Fitzpatrick. The artist has become justly famous for the images he produced as a contributor to the Pontiac Wide Track advertising campaign from 1959 to1971, although the backgrounds were painted by his long-time collaborator Van Kaufman. Fitzpatrick was featured in a 10-page Automobile Quarterly article (Vol.43, No.4,) and in the 20th Anniversary Issue of Collectible Automobile. Both publications placed Art Fitzgerald's work on the cover and will be available for a book signing. But don't be dismayed if you should read this blog after the event. Art may be at home relaxing but his works continue in the new exhibit.
