Barrington Beauties Bared

Talbot-Lago

Our good friend and occasional contributor Nigel Matthews has just returned from the inaugural Barrington, Illinois concours, where he was a judge in the Power and Grace-American Horsepower class. Nigel writes that: "The quality of the vehicles entered into the event were absolutely top notch, many of them would be considered Pebble Beach quality." He also raved about the setting: "The weather was fabulous, the hospitality incredible… " Some nice words about Chicago, too, where downtown waterfront condos sell for considerably less than overpriced Vancouver, Nigel's home. Of course, he wasn't there in mid-winter! Along with an e-mail, Nigel sent us several images of the show cars, some of which I'll post in the next few days. This one just blew me away when I saw it: an absolutely gorgeous 1938 Talbot-Lago Teardrop Coupe owned by Joe and Angela Cantore of Oak Brooke, Illinois.

  • What ever happened to french design? Some of the most beautiful designs of the 30s and 40s were French, but not recently.
