If you can recall the legendary BMW 328 from the 30's and early 40's you'll spot the bloodlines in this BMW Mille Miglia Concept. It is fashioned after the 1940 Mille Miglia-winning M328 Touring Coupe that finished 15-minutes ahead of the second-place car (although there were no competitors from France or Britain in that year). While most production 328's were roadsters, the Mille Miglia Racer featured a curvaceous closed body not unlike some postwar sports cars; power came from a 2-liter six-cylinder engine with a unique aluminum cylinder head. The Mille Miglia Concept Coupe runs on an M Z4 platform with a totally modern inline six but alas, is intended only for the show circuit. True to the original and outstandingly beautiful, the BMW Mille Miglia Concept Coupe could have both classic and contemporary enthusiasts lining up at the showroom if ever BMW decided to produce it.
