Concours
by Philip Powell on August 18, 2006
Lancia was one of the honoured marque's at this year's Concorso Italiano in Monterey and deservedly so, for the company made many advanced automobiles during its long history, including sports, performance, racing and world championship rally cars. At the opposite end of the spectrum it manufactured thousands of family sedans for the Italian middle and upper classes, though always with the same level of technical innovation. Lancia was no stranger to advanced body styling, either, a fact well-illustrated by this 1952 Lancia B52 Aurelia Prototype. The design, obviously influenced by jet aircraft, was considered avante garde in its time and still attracts admiring crowds. The owner wasn't around when I took this photo so I can't accurately name the designer, though I believe it was Pinin farina. If you can confirm or correct this, please use the comments box to verify our information.
