Concours
by Philip Powell on August 28, 2006
I could travel all over the world to review classic car concours but once a year I need only take a 1.5 hour ferry ride from my home on Vancouver Island to the great city of Vancouver on the mainland to view a small but nevertheless interesting show known as The Steamworks Concours. The name has two sources, one being the wonderful old steam-powered clock in Vancouver's restored Gastown area, the other being organiser Ely Gershkovitch's restaurant and bar on the same street. Space limits the number of cars to a maximum of 100 but as all entrants are there by invitation, spectators (who pay nothing for the privilege!) are assured of seeing some rare and beautiful automobiles. This year's Concours happens on Saturday, September 02 and I'll be there, camera in hand. Watch Classical Drive next week for a photo review of the best of '06 Steamworks.
