I could travel all over the world to review classic car concours but once a year I need only take a 1.5 hour ferry ride from my home on Vancouver Island to the great city of Vancouver on the mainland to view a small but nevertheless interesting show known as The Steamworks Concours. The name has two sources, one being the wonderful old steam-powered clock in Vancouver's restored Gastown area, the other being organiser Ely Gershkovitch's restaurant and bar on the same street. Space limits the number of cars to a maximum of 100 but as all entrants are there by invitation, spectators (who pay nothing for the privilege!) are assured of seeing some rare and beautiful automobiles.
