Concours
by Philip Powell on July 28, 2006
Michigan is generally given credit as the birthplace of the American auto industry and Detroit its center. But Indiana was once home to some of the largest automobile manufacturers in the U.S., including Studebaker, Auburn, Cord, Stutz, Duesenberg and several lesser known but fascinating makes. In a rare tribute to the state's car-making history, the 5th Annual Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival will present "The Cars of Indiana," featuring 14 different classes and over 150 entries competing for Best of Show. The event, which runs from November 2nd to November 5th, also includes vintage track days at nearby Roebling Road Raceway, a classic and collector car auction, a Concours d'Elegance fashion show, an exhibit of automotive art and even a concert of Frank Sinatra favorites.
