Classic Trailers Offer Solution to Mobile Vacation Fuel Prices

Classic Trailerboat

We’re in the middle of the summer vacation season and the roads are filled (or cluttered, depending on your point of view) with cars pulling trailers. Or boats. Or trailers and boats. I see almost as many motorhomes, some trailing small boats or small cars for destination driving. Many folks enjoy this lifestyle but I can’t help but think that they must be having second thoughts with the price of fuel pushing $3.25. It wouldn’t surprise me to see people selling off these vehicles in order to downsize or, sadly, just stay at home. The latter wouldn’t be necessary if they could purchase something like this clever and attractive 1954 Trailerboat, which was featured in a wonderful “Vacationland USA” display at the Petersen Museum last year. Now owned by Steven and Jenay Katkowsky, it features a removeable boat on top, an outboard motor mounted above the trailer Hitch, and ample room for cosy accommodations. It’s so cute that even I, not a fan of trailered living, would be tempted.
