Classy Palm Springs Setting for a Classic Packard
Filed in archive American Independents , Concours by Philip Powell on March 2, 2008

The inaugural Palm Springs Desert Classic Concours got under way Friday and our intrepid photographer Mel Satok was on hand to photograph the cars. I was delighted when I saw this shot of a 1930's Packard parked in front of the Palm Springs
Art Museum, which seemed appropriate as the car is art and the building is great architecture. On my one-and-only visit to the area a few years ago a rainy day sent me scurrying into the building were I was amazed at the variety and quality of the art. In fact, I surreptitiously latched on to a group of visitors being led by a female docent who just happened to be elegant and beautiful and very, very classy. Just like that Packard outside.[Photo: Mel Satok]
