Collector Car Price Guide Makes Third Issue, Future Looks Good

Cars That Matter

Back in January I published an article on Cars That Matter, a very handy book that lists current values of collector cars dating back to 1946. The most difficult aspect of publishing any new book lies is in making sure enough people know about it, usually through reviews and publicity; the second toughest is in getting it on bookseller's shelves unless it is marketed directly to the consumer, as this is.

The third issue of Cars That Matter has just arrived in my mailbox and growth, according to publisher David Kinney "continues strong." So I'm pleased to again remind our viewers who may be in the market to buy or sell a collector car that this convenient little tome, barely the size of a pocketbook, is a "must have." To paraphrase a rental car slogan, "don't leave home without it."

Small enough to carry in a jacket pocket, Cars That Matter lists hundreds of makes and models from the US and elsewhere, pricing them in four condition ratings. And because a new version is published every four months, you can be reasonably certain the price is up-to-date. In fact Page 2 of the May through August issue insists "don't even think of using this book after September 30, 2007." Check the Web site for more details and ordering info.

  • I totally agree — I got a copy of CTM at the RM sale in Phoenix. This little baby has saved me $7,500 — and made me $10,500. I’m a subscriber for life.
