Coming Soon: Amelia Island, Florida, Sunshine, a Classic Concours, and the Legends of Road Racing

Amelia Island Concours

Darn! Last year I promised myself that I'd attend the Amelia Island Concours in 2007 but when '07 arrived I blew my meager travel budget on a week at the Scottsdale auctions. It was cool and wet, not what this Pacific Northwest "winter escapee" had hoped for when he packed his T-shirts and swimsuit. Amelia Island is just north of Jacksonville, Florida, where the sun is sure to shine, the ocean waters are warm, the Concours will be among America's finest, and as for auctions, well… RM will be on hand for one of its special catalog events, March 9-10 at the Ritz-Carlton.

I might have survived without all that good stuff until I noticed that included among the events is the Legends of Road Racing Presented by GM with racing greats Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees MBE, John Fitch, Hershel McGriff, Vic Elford and Brian Redman for a two-hour seminar on their experiences in the Targa Florio, Mille Miglia, Carrera Panamericana and the Isle of Man TT motorcycle race. Too late for your reporter but not for you if you're anywhere near Amelia Island in early March.
