Custom Ferrari Inspired by Fellini Film

Walson Ferrari

One of the advantages of wealth is that if you dream big dreams you can afford to turn them into reality. As did Edward Walson who commented "I had always dreamed of designing sports cars, and when I saw this film the decision came of its own accord: one day I would have 'my' Ferrari." He was referring to the special Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari built for the Fellini section of a three-chapter 1968 film called Histoires Extraordinaires. Walson now has his self-designed 599 GTB, constructed especially for him by the coachbuilding section of the Maranello factory. It is based on the normal 599 coupé chassis but has a strengthened open top with Targa-type open roof. Thanks primarily to extensive use of carbonfibre it adds a mere 20kg to the coupé's weight. Walson, incidentally, is the son of John Walson, the inventor of cable TV, who also dreamed big dreams.

  • Wow. This guy spent untold hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebody a Ferrari as a 1968 Chevy Corvette?

    Epic FAIL.

  • Well, there’s no accounting for taste. Although I didn’t mention it in the blog, I think his effort was far less attractive than the original Ferrari.
