Just in case your appetite for next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed wasn’t sufficiently whetted by an already spectacular lineup of famous cars and drivers, here’s one that should send you scurrying to the hillclimb course. Ford has just announced that it will enter one of the legendary GT40 coupes from the team’s 1-2-3 Le Mans finish in 1966. The car, painted in its original black and gold livery, will be driven by Le Mans winners Dan Gurney (1966) and jackie Oliver (1969). The company is celebrating the 40th anniversary of a victory that eventually became part of an historic 4-year winning streak.

Either you misread the Ford Press Release, or you copied the info from someone who misread it. Ford announced that Gurney & Oliver would drive a GT40 painted up like the 66 winner at Goodwood – the real 66 winner was at the Le Mans Classic.
