Dig Up Your Den With This Panama Canal Builder

Bucyrus Steam Shovel

True, what you see here is hardly a classic automobile but knowing as I do how big boys like their toys, I thought you'd appreciate hearing about a most unusual model manufactured by TWH Collectibles and available from "The Toy Farmer" in June. It is a die-cast 1:48 scale Bucyrus Steam Shovel, a metal replica of the 95-ton Bucyrus shovel used to help build the panama canal between 1904 and 1908. According to The Toy Farmer "Bucyrus built 77 of the 102 steam shovels that cut a pathway in the small country of Panama and changed world shipping and travel before World War I began." The model features "an operating tipper and boom, opening doors and windows, a detailed interior and a removable 'house,' which exposes the boiler and steam engine." The company specializes in premium-quality models, which explains a retail price of $300. For more info "check their Website" or call 800-533-8293.
