As mentioned in my first blog from the Barrett-Jackson 2008 auction, Corvettes and muscle cars seemed to dominate the seller's lists. Surprisingly, considering the few that were made, a number of first and second-year Corvettes were offered to buyers, complete with inline-six engines and Powerglide 2-speed automatics. As everyone knows, it took the addition of a V-8 and 4-speed manual before the Corvette made its mark as a real sports car and potential racer. Still, those first models were pretty cars and for fans of six-cylinder engines they remain desirable. Early Ferraris command huge prices so why not America's sports car? Perhaps some lucky buyers will recognise the potential.
