Early Days of Motoring Makes a Lovely Gift for Girls

Outdoorgirls

While glancing through the December issue of McLellan's Automotive Chronicles in search of collectible catalogs that might make interesting Christmas gifts I almost overlooked this one. It didn't seem to be a book a classic car enthusiast would want to buy. But then I read the brief description and suddenly an idea came to mind. First, however, a few words from Robert McLellan about the content: "Outdoor Girls in a Motor Car, Laura Lee Hope, 1913: First edition. Subtitle: The Haunted Mansion of Shadow Valley. Insights into early auto ownership as the story is dominated by their problems navigating northeastern U. S. roads in a car, with typical problems of that era." It was published back when driving was a real adventure, something today's young women would know nothing about, and so I thought "what better way to educate them to the early days of motoring than a copy of a 94-year-old book, and what young girl wouldn't be charmed by that cover?"
