Famous Movie Cars Go On the Block

Fawcett Collection

Oshawa, Ontario, is home to GM Canada's largest manufacturing plants, where cars are also made for US buyers. Oshawa is also the location for several classic car collections, including one owned by GM and another formerly available to movie producers and print photographers: The Fawcett Movie Cars. The company billed itself as Canada's Largest Collection of Picture Vehicles. It offered more than 1000 vehicles "customised to your requirements." Ron Fawcett was a founding member of the Antique and classic car club of Canada and his 'Fawcett Motor Carriage Company' became a well-known local landmark and respected vintage vehicle restoration business. Over 400 Fawcett motor cars ranging from 1917 to 1995 will be auctioned at no reserve by RM Auctions on September 15-16, 2007 at a location just north of Whitby, Ontario. For the benefit of out-of-towners, that's some 20 miles northeast of Toronto. Rarely do so many vintage autos go on the block at one time; the selection is unique in its variety to say nothing of how these cars took their bows in films and TV.
