Ferrari F430 Spider or Bentley Continental Speed GT? Not Me

Ferrari F340 Convertible

I'm getting tired of classic car journalists boasting of their latest drive in a modern supercar. Why don't those guys stick to what they know best? The classics! For example, Nigel Matthews, who contributes to this site, recently tested a Bugatti Veyron in California. Now I learn that he may be driving Bentley's new 600hp Continental Speed GT when it visits Vancouver in November. Steve Wakefield, who edits Classic Driver magazine in the UK, relates a tale in that magazine's newsletter of his drive across Europe in a Ferrari F430 Spider. The "gold standard of high performance cars" he calls it. Hmmm… so here I am, with 50 years experience as a test driver and some racing background (albeit back in the Stone Age) and all I can do is look on in envy? No way. In those years I've enjoyed some fabulous automotive experiences and tested a number of vehicles that were supercars in their day. Now it's the memories that drive me happy. By the way, Nigel and Steve, I was just kidding. Have fun!
