The annual Motori & Sapori festival was just held in Castelfranco Emilia, a remarkable gathering of Ferraris and Maseratis all in one place, where the region's fine food and wine was celebrated along with the iconic sports cars. Appropriately the town is located near Modena, Ferrari's base and the center of the Italian motorsports industry. Castelfranco Emilia also happens to be located on the route of the historic Mille Miglia race. Among the cars that appeared was the "Auto Avio Costruzioni 815," the first Ferrari ever made, while the others, brought to the scene by private collectors, included "F-series" Ferraris, Testarossas, 330s, and a stunning group of new and historic Maseratis, among them a legendary Birdcage racer.
If you've visited the many annual Italian car shows in North America, in particular Concorso Italiano, which takes place during the Monterey classic car week, you may wonder why I find this one so special. After all, the Concorso represents the largest gathering of its type in the world, an extravaganza set on lush green lawns and also offering great food and wine. But there's nothing like the authentic Italian atmosphere, where homes, shops, streets, even the scent of the air, combine to make these fabulous sports cars look as if that's where they belong. Which, having been born there, they most certainly do.
I visited the site and looked at the hundred and fourty-some pictures. Ferraris should be RED. The black TestraRossa was great, but there should be a law against painting a Ferrari yellow!!!!
