I’m not a motorcycle guy and at this tender age am not about to risk my creaking chassis. That said, I do admire the machinery and through countless tales by owners (plus a few road movies) have come to appreciate how a motorcycle offers a sense of freedom that a car can never quite equal. Which explains why I’m enamored of the work produced by a trio of artists specialising in motorcycles in an historic context. “Artists Riding Together” is Jeff Decker, Tom Fritz, and David Uhl, who sell their canvasses and prints through art consultant Greg Rhodes. One that I particularly like is shown here, titled “fertilizer Salesman.” I don’t quite get the connection with fertilizer but the inclusion of a car, which looks like a slightly modified 30′s-era pickup, is what attracted me. It can be purchased as a limited edition print in either of two sizes. Note the price of gas at the Texaco station.
