Ford Model T Celebrates 100th in Fabulous Birthday Bash

It was the Car of the Century, the car that put America on wheels, the world's best-selling car until the VW Beetle broke the production record. It's the Ford model t and 2008 is its 100th birthday. On June 20th and 21st the Model T Ford Club of America will host the 2008 Centennial "T Party" at Richmond, Indiana, featuring close to 1000 Model T's from 14 countries. Appropriately the Ford Motor Company and the Ford Motor Company Fund are sponsoring the event. Edsel B. Ford II, Henry's great-grandson, will be there, as will Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas. And yes, even me. So you can expect to see several blogs in the next couple of weeks featuring the humble Model T, beginning with this Jay Leno interview on YouTube. Jay owns a Model T and even drives it to work. His explanation of the car's simplicity and ruggedness is better than anything I could add, partly because I've never driven one; an oversight I hope to correct at the 100th Anniversary Celebration.
