Ford Model T Racers in a Trio of Colors

It's my intention to feature the Model T in all of this week's blogs, so hopefully those of you who can't quite relate to antique vehicles won't tune out. But after seeing some 800 Model T's in an amazing range of styles and, yes, even colors, at the centennial celebration in Indiana, one brief article could never do the event justice. Perhaps I can tantalise the muscle car crowd with this photo of a trio of Model T's, for Henry Ford's low-cost car for the people was often modified by early hot-rodders and race car drivers. While the production car could barely exceed 40 mph, some of the track racers were reaching speeds of 90 mph and more. These three would not have been in that class; more like contemporary sports cars that can be driven on the road and then, with a few alterations, used for competition. Note the wire wheels on the black coupe, much lighter than Ford's standard wood rims and in lime green, rather stunning. Hmmm... how would they look on my contemporary Ford Focus ZX5?
