Geneva Classics Combines the Best of Classic Transport

Russian Yak aircraft

Now here’s an event for which I’d cheerfully pay the high cost of flying to Europe from the west coast, along with the usual exorbitant Swiss hotel prices. (Well, okay, maybe next year.) The Geneva Classics is a new show combining classic cars, bikes, boats, buses, and aircraft, and as a guy who loves all types of historic transport, it looks like my kind of party. Also included is an exhibition of automobilia and other fascinating transport goodies, a drive-in cinema featuring a selection of films devoted to period transport (which you can watch from the seat of your classic automobile), and a classic sports car auction. If, by good fortune, you’re in the neighbourhood from October 6th through the 8th, you’ll find Geneva Classics at PalExpo, within walking distance of the Geneva international airport. The historic aircraft will, obviously, be exhibited on the apron of the airport. Incidentally the vintage Russian Yak in the photo was also made in China; two restored Chinese versions regularly fly out of Victoria International, across the highway from my home. Great sounds, fun to watch.
