Those of you who appreciate both classic cars and classic car movies will be delighted to learn that Grand Prix, one of the all-time great motor racing films, is being released on a two-disc 40th anniversary special-edition DVD. It is fully restored with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, in 16×9 widescreen format, and includes several feature documentaries on the making of the movie. You may recall that real-life racers had cameo roles, including Graham Hill, Richie Ginther, Dan Gurney, Bruce McLaren, and Phil Hill. I have a special affection for this film, having been invited to the Canadian preview, and of course the VHS tape is in my collection. But this DVD is obviously unique and we can pre-order it from PutGrandPrixonDVD.com. Actual release date is July 11.
