1936 Alfa Romeo GP Car

Historic Grand Prix racing just keeps growing and growing. The latest to be announced will run at the UK's Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit in early May of 2007 as the first event in the newly inaugurated GP Euro Series. The plan is to "stage prestigious historic motor racing events for the enjoyment of drivers, spectators and their families." Competition will come from Grand Prix cars that raced from the 1920's through the 1970's, and sports cars from the 1950s, 60's and 70's. (In those years it was common for GP constructors to race two-seaters in the prestigious endurance events like Spa, LeMans, and Sebring.) The Historic Grand Prix at Donington will include a major display paddock where spectators can get up close to the cars; air displays; fun fairs for the family; plus the world famous Donington Grand Prix Collection. You're looking at a 1936 Donington Grand Prix-winning Alfa Romeo 8C-35 currently owned by Peter Greenfield, who also took the photo.
