My friends at Hemmings are eager to reach what they call "The Next Generation," classic car owners who will keep the old-car hobby vibrant for decades to come. A noble intent that I wholeheartedly support, by the way. Every month, hemmings classic car creates a page featuring the story of someone doing his or her part to keep the old-car hobby vibrant by driving an old car. They're interested in hearing about owners under the age of 25 who use a pre-1980 American car as their primary source of transportation. Stories of the experience with good photos of car and owner are what they're after. A few rules do apply, as in: "The owner needs to be a registered owner and driver. No brand-new owners please (if you just bought your car last week, there are fewer stories to tell). Also, submissions ideally should come from the car owners themselves – we're not big on the whole 'surprise' thing." Hemmings has an easy e-mail form on its Web site where you or a friend can apply to be recognised in "The Next Generation."

Hey, I owned one of those (a 51) for a little while, and I was under 25 when I did. Does that count? Driving from Ft. Monmouth to ft. Gordon, I left it somewhere on old Hiway 1 when the diff. went and continued in a 47 Chrysler I picked up for $75.
