Introducing the Ultimate Jaguar E-Type

Eagle E-Type

It is difficult enough to achieve perfection. To improve on perfection is all but impossible. Yet that's what the English makers of the Eagle E-type Speedster appear to have done. Starting with a Jaguar E-Type (and a wealthy client) they have made one of the world's most beautiful automobiles even more beautiful. The windscreen is chopped. The A-pillars are hidden. The sills and the floor pan are lowered, rear track widened, fenders flared. The rear deck extends into the passenger compartment. And that's only the exterior. The interior with its aluminum dash is equally dramatic.

But the Eagle E-Type is not just show. A 4.7-liter Jaguar straight-six makes 300 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. (Bless the builders for not stuffing in a a V-8 or a heavyweight V-12. For we purists, Jaguars must be sixes. Period.) That massive torque comes on at a low 1750 rpm and with the Speedster weighing just over 2,400 pounds performance is scintillating. Sixty mph arrives in less than five seconds from stop. Top speed is 175 mph. Sure, some modern supercars can go faster but where? And who cares, anyway? This is perfection, re-perfected.
