From time-to-time the Hemmings newsletter informs us about entrants in Hemmings' New England Concours d'Elegance, which takes place at Stratton Resort on Sunday, July 22. Today's announcement is a "deusey" (an all-but-forgotten term for something out of the ordinary). It's a 1915 Duesenberg that was constructed for board-track racing back during the early part of the last century. The car is maintained for its owner by restorer and pre-war fabricator David Greenlees of Ancient Auto in Brattleboro, Vermont, who has agreed to bring the rare Duesenberg to the magazine's first Concours. Judging by the photo, this Deusey is also run in vintage racing, which would certainly be something to see and hear. No doubt it will be started up more than once at the event, reason enough to visit if you're anywhere within reach. The activities begin on Friday the 20th, with a classic car rally on that day, followed by a car show for pre-1983 vehicles on Saturday, and the Concours on Sunday, limited to quality collector cars appearing by invitation only. Looks like a wonderful weekend for all collector car enthusiasts.
Thanks for the mention of the concours. Just an FYI, David’s the restorer and caretaker of the Duesenberg, not the owner. I had a chance to inspect the car yesterday, and it’s simply outstanding. Definitely worth coming up to Stratton to see.
