Classic car shows featuring only Italian automobiles seem to be growing in popularity. The Concorso Italiano at Monterey in August is a major draw on the west coast, while the Concorso d’Eleganza at Skytop Lodge in Skytop, PA, which occurs June 23 through June 26, claims to be the largest 3-day Italian automotive event in North America. It brings together clubs representing historic marques like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Bizzarini, Lancia, deTomaso and Alfa Romeo, and includes track activities at Pocono Raceway plus charity rides with Lamborgini test driver Valentino Balboni and a chance to meet Tom Tjaarda, former designer with Pininfarina and Ghia. Speed Channel’s Dennis Gage will also make a special appearance. Red promises to be a prominent color.
