LeMans-Winning Jaguar XK120C Reborn For America
Filed in archive Jaguar by Philip Powell on February 01, 2008

Unless you dwell in the UK (and even if you do) you may not be familiar with the name "Proteus." The 21-year-old company specialises in re-creating legendary sports-racing cars of the past, in particular the LeMans-winning C-Type Jaguar. Accompanied by great plans but limited financial capability, Proteus has now been acquired by rival Enduro Cars, which is great news in North America as the hand-crafted replicator of bygone sports cars will soon be coming our way. The Jaguar XK120C, with an aluminum body and 5-year, 60,000 mile warranty, is slated to sell for $133,000, little cash for one of the most beautiful cars ever to set tires to the track, and far less than an original C-Type would bring at auction. Future replicas include three more Jags - the SS100, XKSS, and D-Type - as well as the Aston Martin DB3S and the racing version of the gullwing 300SL: the 300SLR.
