Model Cars
by Philip Powell on July 10, 2006
You won't find many historic Japanese cars available as diecast models, simply because the industry itself built few automobiles that enthusiasts regard as collectibles. Which makes this 1970 Datsun 240Z from The Franklin Mint all the more desireable. Of course, the original 240Z was unique for its time. It was widely recognised as the affordable, reliable sports coupe of the 1970's, arriving just as British sports cars were beginning a decline and American pony cars had their engines strangled by emissions regulations. The precision-built model comes in large 1:24 scale - 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) long - at $120 but get your order in soon... this beauty is being offered in a limited edition of just 2500 worldwide.
