London, Classic Cars, and Harrods

Bentley at Cafe Rouge

Anyone who appreciates London as I do will enjoy this blogsite. It’s called, appropriately, the Anglophile, and is produced from Utah by an American gentleman, Thomas Moore Sr. For thirty-five years he and his son Thomas Jr. have been operating a short-let company for flats (apartments) in Central London, one of which my brother and I rented during a recent visit. Anyone who’s been considering a trip to London should peruse this site for it illustrates, with wonderful photos, places that tourist guides often overlook. Interlaced with the images is a friendly commentary by Mr. Moore, who also owns a home in London and gets to spend considerable time there. His love and enthusiasm for the great city really comes through in his writing. He admits to being a bird-watcher, not a car-watcher, but in a recent blog he tells about how much fun it is to have breakfast at the Cafe Rouge near the legendary Harrods department store, where “all the fashion designers and managers of the various departments are also seated at the cafe, having their morning coffee before trotting off to Harrods.” While seated one can also admire the cars of arriving patrons, such as this Bentley Continental, an instant classic the moment it was launched. I wish I’d seen this blog before I arrived in London because if I had, we’d have been at the Cafe Rouge every morning.
