Lotus, Chapman, Cosworth: Three Great Names in Engineering and Motor Racing

Costin and Duckworth in the pits

Nigel Matthew has an old friend who worked with Colin Chapman and Lotus from the latter's very beginnings. Later, realising the significance his experience must have had in the car world, the friend assembled a collage of photos, many taken during Chapman's early attempts at gaining class wins at LeMans and Sebring. Nigel lost the collage until, during a recent housekeeping, he rediscovered this unique bit of history and made multiple scans for your benefit. As anyone knows who has scanned old photo images or newspaper articles, the results are not as expected unless we possess professional scanners. I do not, nor does Nigel. From time-to-time I will upload the most vieweable of these images, starting with this photo that reveals Mike Costin in the car and Keith Duckworth standing, who teamed to form Cosworth Engineering. Cosworth engines, should you not be aware, powered more F1 teams than any other name. They still drive open-wheel racers in the US.
