May Brings Flowers and… Car Shows

Willys

The flowers are in bloom, the sun warms our spirits, and the first car shows of the season tempt northerners out from their caves to show, shine, or just admire. In Ypsilanti, Michigan, a city near Detroit that built thousands of B-24 Liberator bombers and after the war converted the factories to automobile production, the first event of the year is called, appropriately, Show and Shine. Proceeds from this year's show went to a variety of charities such as Cystic fibrosis, hospice and the Humane Society. Autoblog offers an extensive photo gallery of the many cars that appeared, most of which, at a glance, appear to be customised to some extent. Our photo car caught my eye because I like the old Willys sedans though I've yet to see an unmodified one at any car show I've attended. Looking pretty in goldenrod yellow it appears to be a 1937 model.
