What makes the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance so special is that it takes place on the grounds of Meadow Brook Hall, former home of Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of Dodge brother John Dodge, whose name appears on many a car today. Over the years the Concours d'Elegance has raised and contributed more than $5,000,000 to the preservation of the mansion. Quoting from its Web site: "Thousands of people gather to experience the beauty of the art, the styling and sophistication of approximately 250 of the world's finest antique and classic automobiles displayed in the lavish outdoor exhibition at Meadow Brook Hall." A major presentation by the world's best automobile artists is included along with, for the first time, the addition of 4-cylinder vintage motorcycles. "Detroit is steeped in automotive heritage and the new features this year will add to the celebration of the beauty and power of the automobile," says Matthew de Larcinese, the event's Executive Director.
