Moss and Aston Together Again at Le Mans

He was called the greatest driver who never won a world's championship. He's 77 years old and still competes in vintage races. He is Sir Stirling moss
and he'll be driving an Aston Martin DBR1 in next weekend's Le Mans Legend, the support race for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Moss drove Astons at Le Mans three times; a DB3S in 1956, and a DBR1 in 1958 and 1959, so it didn't take him long to get back into the groove when practising for the race at Silverstone. According to an article in Classic Driver Moss "lapped faster and faster throughout the test session, to approving nods from Tim Samways of Sporting and Historic Cars who looks after the DBR1. By the end of the morning the pit-board showed that Sir Stirling was using the beautifully balanced car to full effect, and Moss later said 'it felt wonderful'." I watched Moss in person during his glory days of sports cars and F1, even interviewed him for my radio show, and recognised that characteristic driving stance the moment I saw this photo. Moss' co-driver will be Dr Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin, who said, "to partner Sir Stirling in the race is a dream and a great honour for me."Permalink: Moss and Aston Together Again at Le Mans
