Most Elegant Sports Car Was Classical Drive's First Choice

Sunday being the first visit in almost 30 years to the Pebble Beach Concours I was not well organised and instead of using the Infiniti Media Center's elaborate facilities, headed mid-afternoon to my faraway room in the Worst Western to edit hundreds of photos and write new blogs for your entertainment. Thus I missed the award-giving and celebrations of "Best of Show." Worse still, I failed to take a shot of the winner. On the plus side my friend Nigel Matthews, classic car judge extraordinaire, whom I met by accident at the concours, asked me which car I thought should win the coveted trophy. My choice was a 1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta owned by Miles C. Collier of Naples, Florida. If there is any compensation for such journalistic
inadequacies, that very Alfa won the Strother MacMinn Most Elegant Sports Car Trophy. (You can see all the class winners at the MSN site.) I returned home on Monday after a 14-hour trip that shouldn't have take more than 6 hours, so no blogs yesterday but guess what? Waiting in my mail was an invitation to use the facilities at the Infiniti Media Center. Thanks, Infiniti: next time try sending your invitations a little sooner.Permalink: Most Elegant Sports Car Was Classical Drive's First Choice
