A couple of weeks back I uploaded an article on Bo Duke/John Schneider's original 1969 Dodge Charger from the film series dukes of hazzard. As usual, I confessed to my ignorance of the movie. Films about wacko guys playing with flashy cars never appealed to me, much as I enjoy good road movies. When the car was first offered on e-Bay the anticipated price was $2.3 million, a figure I thought was absurd but the bidding quickly went to $9,900,500! Well, guess what folks? It was a hoax. So now they're starting all over again and Autoblog, from where I sourced this update, informs us that future bidders must register with Auction Wire, an online auction agency, before they can make a play for the car. More realistically, the word is that the true value is somewhere around $200,000 to $300,000. Book values in Cars That Matter would appear to confirm this though one never knows what someone might pay for so-called star quality. James Bond, yes, but John Schneider?
