It must be the weather. Two major museums are opening, within a day of each other, special displays featuring American convertibles. I've already reported on the Petersen Museum's event in a previous article, so herewith a few words on a smaller, though nonetheless interesting Masterpiece Exhibit at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, entitled "Topless Convertibles of the 1950's." The cars come from the private collection of Wayne and Alzina Davis, Auburn, CA. They include:
* 1950 Mercury OCM M-74 Six-Passenger Convertible
* 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air 2400 C Series Convertible
* 1955 Ford Fairlane 76-B Six-Passenger Sunliner
* 1956 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire Five-Passenger Convertible
* 1956 Mercury Montclair 76-B Six-Passenger Convertible
The curators of both exhibits must have been dreaming of warm spring days and blue skies at the same time for such an odd co-incidence to happen but whatever... we classic convertible enthusiasts get to enjoy the fun. The Reno exhibit opens May 23rd and runs through to October 15, 2007.
