What would an auction be without a Cord? Although if I were an owner I might gain a bigger buck selling it at RM or Gooding, rather than Barrett-Jackson where this Westchester sedan was offered. Not that Barrett-Jackson wouldn't do its best but the potential Cord buyer is more likely to be found at the upscale classic affairs. Most noted among Cords are the convertibles, and yet the 4-door Westchester sedan was superbly proportioned by Cord designer Gordon Buehrig, who made every version masterful. The Cord on sale in Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction was a 1936 model 810 with 4-speed transmission, "restored to drive" with working instruments and radio plus Classic Club of America recognition. It went for $66,600. Too much? Too little? I'll leave that for you to decide.
