Hidden in the vaults of the great automobile museums are many treasured examples of rare automobiles not yet seen by visitors. Some await their turn to be exhibited, others have yet to be brought into show condition. The Petersen Automotive Museum of Los Angeles maintains some real gems in its Permanent Collection and will highlight a group of these important acquisitions for a special exhibition beginning February 23rd, 2008, continuing through October 5th. It is entitled, appropriately, Treasures of the Vault. One of my fantasies would have me working as creative director for an automotive museum (located in a permanently sunny place, of course), conceiving and promoting shows like this one, occasionally sneaking into the storage room where I could slip into the driver's seat of classics like the one above for some additional day-dreaming. Incidentally, the Petersen Web site doesn't identify the car so here's a little challenge for you: What is it? Please use the Comments box below.

Thanks to Jalopnik.com, I know it's a 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Jonckheere Coupe.
