So who is that lady, lying on her back, bosom slightly revealed, with cameras clicking from every direction? She's Sophia Loren, she's 71, and she's still sexy. Luck, genes, and a determination not to get old as she inevitably gets older has kept Ms. Loren in great shape. Clicking through Gary Grant's thegarageblog reminded me that Sophia Loren was included among current sex queens in the 2007 Pirelli Calendar. The latter is the world's most exclusive and hard-to-get wall hanger but I was lucky enough to receive one after more than three decades of pleading. Unfortunately, by the time a Pirelli Calendar was delivered by courier to my home, said home had shrunk to a 660 sq. ft. condo with limited wall space. So I loaned the calendar to my friend Ralph Steenstra, whose coffee house is located next door. Ralph was delighted to hang the calendar in view of everyone but refused to display the one month where a model's nipples were shown. He was concerned that his elderly lady customers would be offended. I argued that said ladies had seen it all before, but to no avail. When the year ends I'll take the calendar, advertise it on e-Bay and hope to get the 2008 version. After all, it's the tires that matter most. Yeah, sure...
