Pontiacs are precious. Pontiac classics powered by inline-sixes-and-eights are even more precious. Fans call them "flatheads" though I prefer to call them "smoothies" from an era when mighty torque delivered from low rpm's was appreciated. Oh yes, Pontiac made great engines. "Over to Hemmings" for this: "As a part of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International, the "Early Times Chapter's main focus" is the preservation and restoration of all flathead-powered Pontiacs. Their annual meet, called the Flathead Reunion, has been growing steadily since the first meet some three years ago. One of the main driving forces behind this well-organized club is Pete Woodruff, the man who started the very successful Ames Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park back in 1992; now the country's largest all-Pontiac event."
In the 50's my mother owned a 1934 Pontiac straight-eight that she let me drive to pick up various girlfriends. Next to my mom I miss that Pontiac most. Oh yes, and the girls, too.
