Pontiac, Ford, Formula Race Cars, Found in Secret Portuguese Hideaway

Dusty Racers

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about the discovery of 108 vintage cars in a Portuguese building that had been welded shut for many years. The article that was referenced to me had been written in Portuguese so, unfortunately, I couldn't read it. Nor could a friend whom I thought was 50% Portuguese. "Only 25%" he corrected me, while confessing that he'd never learned to speak the language. Perhaps, someday, one of our visitors will update us on this extraordinary "barn find" but in the meantime I'm happy to post another shot taken within the building's darkened interior. We can see a pair of racers from a junior formula of some kind, a Mercedes 600, an unidentified Mercedes, a 1940's Pontiac and Ford, and behind them dozens of other vehicles. Amazingly, except for decades of dust, all appear to be in good shape. Wandering through there must be like visiting a ghost town.

  • Just testing on behalf of a visitor who had problems getting the security code recognised.

  • Quite a capture, these cars should be in a museum. I’d surely like to be able to see them somewhere. Are the cars still working? Is there any rust on them?
