Rally/Retro-Rally
by Philip Powell on February 4, 2007

Great old cars roaming through beautiful Ozark backwoods country on winding roads? Now that's my idea of a classic car rally. Which is why I'm delighted to publish this blog about the 2007 Hemmings Branson Rally. It's a week-long event run in a cloverleaf format around the Branson, Missouri area on June 11-15. Organised and sponsored by Hemmings, of course, and they promise to have their wonderful old 1934 Dodge panel truck on hand. Competitors must be driving cars from model year 1948 and earlier and will participate in time/speed/distance contests in the traditional format many rally enthusiasts grew up with. Hence, it's an affair for all the family. $60,000 in prize money is up for grabs in three divisions; $1500 is the entry fee. Profits from the event go to raise the awareness of autism; last year's rally raised more than $20,000 in charitable contributions to the Unlocking Autism Foundation.
